Venous malformation

CASE 23

Venous malformation

QUESTION 23

A 14-month-old boy presents to the pediatric dermatology clinic as a referral from his pediatrician for the development of multiple painful blue lesions on the leg. The lesions were not present at birth, have become larger over the past several months and seem to cause the child pain. On examination, there are multiple blue-purple subcutaneous nodules that are soft and compressible (23), located on the right thigh and right lower leg.
