A 28-year-old African American man presents to the dermatology clinic for the evaluation of recurrent painful razor bumps in the beard distribution. He states that he began developing these lesions after shaving regularly. He has tried numerous aftershave treatments but continues to develop lesions that leave behind dark marks and bumps in the skin. On examination, there are follicular-based hyperpigmented papules along the jawline and anterior neck (17).
