Friction blister
QUESTION 14
A 56-year-old man presents to the clinic with a painful blister on the great toe. The area was initially erythematous and mildly tender but rapidly developed into a painful, tense blister. He does not have any other blisters on his body but has an erythematous area in a similar distribution on the opposite foot. He reports a lifelong history of frequently developing blisters on his feet and heels. On examination, there is a large tense bulla filled with yellow-red fluid and with minimal erythema, induration or fluctuation (14).
