CASE 28

En coup de sabre

QUESTION 28

A 61-year-old woman presents to the dermatology clinic for evaluation of a linear scar down her forehead. She states that it has been present for about 2 months and began as a slightly depressed scar with surrounding hair loss at her frontal hairline that has progressed down to the glabellar region. She also reports more frequent headaches over the last month, for which she is taking acetaminophen. Her past medical history is significant for hypothyroidism and type II diabetes mellitus. On examination, there is an erythematous, linear depression from the frontoparietal scalp to the glabella with prominent veins and associated alopecia (28). On review of systems, she reports headaches and denies seizures, vision change or weight loss.
