Tissue Expansion in Nasal Reconstruction
L. C. ARGENTA
EDITORIAL COMMENT
The attractiveness of expansion of the forehead skin for nasal reconstruction should be weighed against the following difficulties: loss of pliability of the skin flap owing to capsular formation, increasing thickness of the flap, and the need for a multistaged procedure. In most nasal reconstructions, the secondary forehead defect can be closed primarily, or if a small raw area is left open, it will heal by contracture with an acceptable scar.
See Chapter 11 for a detailed description of the indications, flap design, operative technique, and clinical results of tissue expansion for scalp and forehead defects.
