EDITORIAL COMMENT
This chapter and the one following (Chapter 9) demonstrate a reliable and accessible method of covering defects in the cribriform area, which may prevent cerebrospinal fluid leaks.
INDICATIONS
Reconstructions using this flap are primarily applicable for defects of the cribriform and paracribriform areas, orbital roof, and frontal sinus. The flap also can be used for defects after various craniofacial-defect corrections, maxillofacial injuries (such as Le Fort II and III fractures), cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, and tumor ablation of the anterior cranial fossa (3, 4, 5).
