When looking at clinically purple lesions, we are again dealing with angiokeratomas. There are patterns that have been identified as sensitive and specific for angiokeratoma that we will show briefly.
Lichen planus-like keratosis can also appear to have a violet hue clinically; however, it is not as “purple” as our angiokeratomas. We covered these lesions in Chapters 6 and 7: Flat and Elevated/Pink-Clear/Multicolored.
These lesions can be confused with melanoma, so flip back to those chapters to review those lesions.
