John P. Arkins, BS





John Arkins is a Clinical Research Coordinator and Data Manager at DeNova Research in Chicago. With his degree in premed from Notre Dame, he manages research data and works with patients on clinical trials at DeNova. His goal is to place patients in studies that help them achieve the aesthetic enhancement they are looking for.


Mr. Arkins is coauthor of the article Retailicine: Somewhere between Retail and Medicine , with Dr. Steven Dayan and Tracy Drumm.

Edwin A. Cortez, MD, FACS





Dr. Cortez is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon with more than 20 years experience in surgical and nonsurgical procedures.


He performs all surgeries in his office-based facility, which is Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accredited. His special interest is in surgical treatments of the aging face; as well, he has written extensively on the phenol croton oil peel.


Dr. Cortez is co-director of the annual Facial Cosmetic Surgery Symposium in Las Vegas, presented by the Multi-Specialty Foundation. He was selected to one of the Best Doctors in America 2009–2010.

Marie Czenko Kuechel, MA





Marie Czenko Kuechel is a practice and public education consultant in aesthetic medicine, a journalist and frequent contributor to ABC television’s The View , and author of numerous consumer and professional articles and books including the most recent comprehensive practice management guide, Aesthetic Medicine: Growing Your Practice.


Ms. Czenko Kuechel holds a Master of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing.

Steven H. Dayan, MD, FACS





Dr. Steven Dayan is a certified member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.


Dr. Dayan is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois and a recognized expert in his field. He is a requested speaker, nationally and internationally, on topics ranging from Botox and collagen to identifying the validity of latest advancement in cosmetic procedures and products.


He actively participates in laboratory and clinical research that have proved instrumental within the advancement of minimally invasive medical procedures and plastic surgery. Dr. Dayan’s research findings also resulted in approval for a new laser indication, and he has written and published more than 30 research articles, book chapters, and monographs. He serves on the editorial board of the internationally published Facial Plastic Surgery Journal .


Teaching and education are a core component of Dr. Dayan’s practice. He lectures to peers around the country and hosts monthly workshops and preceptorships for practicing physicians looking to learn the latest in nonsurgical cosmetic techniques. In addition, his practice has affiliations with medical, nursing, aesthetic, physician assistant, and high schools, all which send outstanding students for 4-week intern rotations. Many of these students go on to pursue careers in cosmetic medicine.
