EDITORIAL COMMENT
This is an outstanding method of ear reconstruction; it extends Antia’s procedure for the lateral ear defect. The result is an ear that appears almost normal but is slightly smaller than on the unoperated side.
INDICATIONS
The antegrade triangular composite ear flap is a simple method that can be used to correct defects or deformities of 2.0 cm or
less in the helix or scaphal region of the upper segment of the ear (Fig. 84.1). This technique offers the advantages of a single-stage procedure and obviates the need for the additional use of cartilage and skin grafts. A disadvantage is that, depending on the extent of the defect, the overall size of the ear is reduced.
