Papules, pustules, and comedones are intermixed. Pustules are superficial and may break and drain.

Moderate papulopustular acne. The propensity to scar varies among patients.

Widespread pustular acne is disfiguring, has the potential to scar, and requires aggressive therapy (often with isotretinoin).
