Papules and pustules are confined to the perioral area and spare a narrow zone around the vermillion border. Many cases will be of less intensity.

Eruptions of this intensity occur about 1 week after stopping long-term treatment with topical steroids.

Pinpoint papules may be found next to the nostrils. This may be the only finding.
