Abstract



Background


Isolated fractures of the ulnar diaphysis are the only adult forearm injuries for which closed treatment is considered. Acceptable fracture healing and restoration of forearm rotation is often achieved after closed treatment or benign neglect. Although evidence to support thresholds for operative treatment are lacking, it is proposed that surgery is best for fracture displaced by more than half the diameter of bone or angulated by more than 10 degrees.
