3 Preoperative Problem List

1.

Untreated adult with rigid static talipes equinovarus. This young man has both equinus and varus deformity.

2.

It is impossible to determine the contribution from static contracture and the contribution from bony deformity.

4 Treatment Strategy

1.

The first step in treatment was to surgically perform a percutaneous tendon Achilles lengthening by triple hemisection.

2.

A Taylor Spatial Frame (Smith-Nephew, Memphis, TN, USA) was applied with a miter frame construct (Fig. 5). Maximum passive correction was obtained at the time of application.

3.

The plan was to proceed with gradual correction using the method of Ponseti. The first step was to correct the varus component of the deformity.

4.

The equinus component of the deformity was then sequentially corrected.
